Dara Colwell began her career as an English language instructor and as someone with an enduring love for words, picked up a journalism degree along the way. She is a former staff writer for investigative newspaper Metro San Jose (in the heart of Silicon Valley, California) and has worked as a freelance writer for the last decade. Her work has appeared in publications such as the Village Voice, Details Magazine, Alternet.org, Time Out (Amsterdam) and the Telegraph (in the UK). She has been published in print, radio and online, tutors in honing communication skills, and also lectures in journalism to Masters students at the University of Groningen. Her current journalistic focus is on the nature of online story-telling.
